Call for Papers

The Second Workshop on Performance Evaluation of Parallel Applications on Large-Scale Systems

To be held in conjunction with the 8h International Conference on Parallel Processing and Applied Mathematics PPAM 2009 in Wroclaw, Poland, in September 13-16, 2009.

The goal of the Workshop is to present the latest research in the field of Performance Evaluation of Parallel Applications. This workshop will bring together scientists, engineers, and practitioners to share and exchange their experiences, discuss challenges, and report state-of-the-art and in-progress research of all aspects in performance evaluation.

Suggested topics include (but are not limited to):

  • Performance of large-scale parallel architectures and applications
  • Performance of parallel, distributed, Cell/B.E and grid-based algorithms
  • Predictive performance models of cluster and grid systems and applications
  • Workload characterization and traffic modeling of cluster and grid applications
  • Performance evaluation of cluster and grid systems
  • Case studies showing the role of performance evaluation in the design of cluster and grid systems
  • Measurement and monitoring techniques and tools
  • Tracing and trace analysis
  • Automatic performance analysis
  • Hardware and software monitors
  • Test methods and tools
  • Performance comparison
  • Techniques for modeling achievable performance
  • Performance modeling of software applications
  • Performance modeling of software and hardware architectures
  • Scalability studies
  • Improvement in system performance through optimization and tuning

PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION

All rules of paper submission of the PPAM conference apply (http://ppam.pcz.pl), specifically

  • Papers will be refereed and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit and relevance to the Workshop topics.
  • Authors should submit papers (draft version with abstract, PDF file) using PPAM submission system and concurrently to Jan Kwiatkowski (jan.kwiatkowski@pwr.wroc.pl) before April 10, 2009. Regular papers are not to exceed 10 pages
  • Papers presented at the Workshop will be included into the conference proceedings published after the conference by Springer in the LNCS series.
