******************* CALL FOR PAPERS ******************* =========================================================== Workshop on Power and Energy Aspects of Computation (PEAC) to be held in conjunction with the PPAM 2013 Conference September 8-11, 2013 Warsaw, Poland =========================================================== SCOPE ----- Over the past years power and energy consumption have become the driving metrics for the design of computing hardware including multicore CPUs and accelerators. Power-conscious designs also dominate large supercomputing installations as well as large industrial complexes devoted to cloud computing and big data analytics. With serious financial and environmental consequences, large scale computing community has to now cope with careful re-engineering of software to fit demanding power levels and tight energy envelopes. This workshop will present research into new ways of addressing these pressing issues of energy preservation, power consumption, and heat dissipation while attaining best possible performance levels at the scale demanded by modern scientific challenges. We hope to provide a vibrant forum for exchanging ideas, methodologies, and insights into more sustainable computing solutions. Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following. - Power and energy consumption analysis, modeling and evaluation of modern and emerging computer architectures and systems - Energy-conscious algorithms and applications - Software solutions, techniques, and paradigms for energy conservation - Optimization techniques that directly influence power consumption in computing, namely by using DPM/DVFS - Power and energy consumption simulation, optimization, management and evaluation tools - Position papers and survey reports in the topic of power, energy, and heat in large scale computing installations PAPER SUBMISSIONS ----------------- Submitted papers will be refereed and accepted on the basis of their originality, scientific merit and relevance to the workshop topics. Papers presented during the workshop are included into the proceedings of PPAM Conference and are published after the conference by Springer in the LNCS series. The paper need to be formatted according to the Springer LaTeX style according to the guidelines and instructions posted on the PPAM conference web site - http://ppam.pl. IMPORTANT DATES --------------- Paper submission: 15 May 2013 at 11:59PM EST Author notification: 15 June 2013 Camera-ready due: 15 November 2013 Workshop Organizers ------------------- - Piotr Luszczek, University of Tennessee Knoxville - Leonel Sousa, IST/TU Lisbon and INESC-ID - Rich Vuduc, Georgia Tech Publication Opportunities ------------------------- We are currently in the process of seeking opportunities for a special issue of a journal to feature extended versions of the papers submitted to the workshop. The prospective journal publication will undergo a separate review process.
